Portrait Painting Process

Below is a quick tour of a recently commissioned three subject, 22" x 24", family portrait painting using sepia tones. The process began when the client emailed the following 3 x 5 reference photographs.

Within 2 days the client received the following emailed composition sketches designed to fit the desired canvas size.

Client and artist collaborated on refinements and an additional proof was emailed.

Client approved composition and the following week received color study of portrait in desired sepia tones.

Upon final approval, client chose to receive proofs of the completed portrait in multiple frame styles. Below are a few.

The second frame proof included an enlargement, close-up, and detailed diagram.

After selecting a frame the client received the framed original work of art within 4 weeks of commissioning the painting. The portrait arrived ready to hang, complete with hanging wire and wall hook.
